The Irish Academy of Arms provides training for armourers. The most popular courses are:
Armouring for Fencers
This course is for the competitive fencer who wants to maintain and repair their own equipment. It covers weapon testing, fault finding, preventative maintenance and repair of personal equipment and weapons. Successful completion of this course results in the award of the Basic Armourer Certificate.
Armouring for Club Armourers
This is a course for club armourers who want to maintain their club’s equipment (including spools, ground cables, etc) as well as the individual equipment of the club members. Successful completion of this course results in the award of the Advanced Armourer Certificate.
